Subaru XV
Having had the chance to refine the XV Subaru has unveiled this second generation model, a wagon adaptation of its renowned Impreza sedan and hatch. Among the first things you’ll notice is the flamboyant and striking design, which is sure to set tongues wagging thanks to its shapely curves, bold choice of alloy wheels, distinctive grille and flashy colour scheme. Compared with the Impreza, the XV is longer, rides higher, feels more pleasant inside and has superior off-road prowess. As with every other Subaru car, the XV is a full-time all-wheel drive superstar offering unparalleled traction. In addition to that, there is hill-start assistance, active torque vectoring and technology from the Forester that redirects drive to the wheel(s) with most grip. On that alone, this vehicle is designed to keep its place on the road or whichever precarious terrain you put it through. Providing the spark for it all is a 2L motor that produces 115kW, crafted of course to the Japanese manufacturer’s highest standards. Likewise, the cabin is lavish and enticing, with no shortage of controls and features. For a comfortable alternative to an SUV, which still offers expansive legroom, top-drawer safety and light steering, why not introduce your garage to the Subaru XV.

The 2020 Subaru XV line-up comprises four model variants, all powered by Subaru’s 2.0-litre boxer engine. And now for the first time there’s an electrified version of the Impreza-based XV, which is a popular seller for the brand, racking up 10,062 sales in 2019 – second only to the Forester (15,096 units). The addition of Subaru’s new ‘e-Boxer’ mild-hybrid p...

We like the XV’s hatchback looks, fantastic cabin quality, Subaru’s all-wheel drive tech across the range, and the high safety equipment present on most variants. We like the XV’s hatchback looks and fantastic cabin quality. The only engine is a rather underpowered 2.0-litre petrol mated to a soggy CVT auto, so it’s hardly the most inspirational small SUV to...

In a case of late to the party, Subaru has finally entered the electrified era, releasing its first hybrid vehicles in Australia this year, including the 2020 Subaru XV Hybrid. It couldn’t have come at a better time for the Japanese carmaker, with hybrid motivation increasingly popular among consumers – witness the ongoing shortage of RAV4 Hybrid stock. So,...

If you’ve been around for as long as I have, chances are you’ve owned a Subaru or two. In my case, it’s the latter. Back when I’d returned from four years living in the United States there was very little money in the bank for a car and the old man had recommended the Subaru Sherpa, a tiny box of a car that cost almost zero to run and not much more to buy. T...

I bought a xv s model and love it. It was worth spending extra to get the top of the range. My favourite is the led headlights that move with the wheels. I love also how the mirrors automatically retract, the seat settings for different drivers, the racey pedals and the leather interior. It's a beautiful car to drive to and feels so luxurious. It was worth e...
