More About Smart Dealers

When it first burst onto the scene, Smart was considered one of the pioneers of innovation within the city car segment, offering a very unique take on the once popular format. And although it enjoyed some popularity in various markets, most notably Europe, the brand’s pivot to electric vehicle development means that it has exited some of its former markets, including Australia, to retune its focus. As such, Smart vehicles are no longer sold down under, even though the marque remains a byproduct of an agreement between Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler, and Chinese auto manufacturer Geely. Maybe one day Smart cars could return to Australian shores, especially with an EV line-up in the works, in which case the brand could well be sold through Mercedes-Benz dealerships, as it once was. For now, however, existing owners of a Smart car can source genuine parts and service their vehicle through the Mercedes-Benz dealer network, which is providing ongoing care for the brand.
