Living up to its name, it's hard to describe this vehicle as anything other than superb. Following a number of other names in the Skoda line-up, the Superb provides incredible comfort and amenity, with among the most spacious cabin configurations thanks to expansive leg room. It's also a dependable and trusty companion on the road, with high reliability and first-rate build quality. Complete with a generous serving of features, entertainment perks and safety aids, the Skoda Superb is a winner.
There are two variants on offer locally, with the Superb Sportline and Superb Scout available to new car buyers. Each uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, and both feature a drivetrain that sends power to all four wheels in an all-wheel drive set-up. Whereas the Superb Sportline has a 206kW and 350Nm output, the Superb Scout comes in slightly less at 200kW and 350Nm. As such, the two are effectively like-for-like when it comes to acceleration and speed.
One of the predominant differences between the Octavia and Superb is the body configuration and sizing. The Octavia is a compact family car comparable with the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra and Honda Civic. Meanwhile, the Superb is slightly longer in length and wheelbase, with the benefits being apparent in terms of the space and comfort in the rear. Its nearest peers are the Honda Accord, BMW 5 Series and Mercedes C-Class. Ride dynamics also vary, with the Octavia offering a poised ride, while the Superb boasts ride comfort thanks to better noise isolation, and it also has a more potent set of engines, even if the Octavia's are more than cut out for the job.
