In some quarters, the Boxster has been coined the “poor man's Porsche” due to its entry-level status within the Porsche range. Whereas it was once a dedicated model, it is now wrapped up as part of the 718 series. In contrast to some of the other Porsche models being sold today, including the Macan and Cayenne, which are bigger units with more power and features, and the race-ready 911, the Boxster doesn't quite command the same attention, even though in our view it thoroughly deserves it.
Porsche no longer sells the Boxster as a specific model. Since the introduction of the fourth-generation in 2016, the Boxster and Cayman have both been marketed as the Porsche 718 Boxster for the convertible and Porsche 718 Cayman for the coupe. In the case of the Boxster, prices start from $118,700 before on-road costs for the entry-level variant, and continue all the way up to $192,590 plus on-road costs for the Boxster 25 Years.
In case you are wondering about the origins of the Boxster name, then you're not alone. It comes from the word "boxer", which itself is a reference to the flat or "boxer" engine found in the vehicle. The Boxster is also considered a "roadster", which draws reference to the two-seat configuration and convertible roof-top. So between the two words, you can see that Porsche has blended "boxer" and "roadster" into Boxster.

But the more mundane, mainstream Giulia isn’t what the red-blooded Alfisti want to know about. They want...
