Having last been on our shores just four years ago, some may remember the Peugeot Expert fondly. However with the French car company now embarking on an aggressive strategy to take market share in the commercial van sector, the Expert has been reborn into something quite different. With its varying configurations of powertrain, transmission and body length, buyers can choose from as many as five variants, with the entry model starting at a rather competitive price-point. Across the entire line-up you can take advantage of benefits like parking sensors, rear-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, auto wipers and headlights, smartphone integration, AEB and traffic sign recognition. That’s as good as you’ll come across from any mid-size van. Heck, it’s even better than many small or mid-size passenger sedans. There is an intuitive feel to the layout and controls inside the cabin, and support is assured thanks to the comfortable seating. Every model is able to operate with an impressive 12.4m turning circle, and both the payload and towing rating across the range is well above functional. The punch of the Expert’s engine comes with a sense of confidence, and it’s a fleet-footed unit when responding to every bit of driver guidance. The Expert certainly doesn’t feel like a van, but it has all the perks of one.
