The Boxer relies on a durable engine manufactured by Ford. It is a EURO6 (AdBlue) version of the Peugeot 2.0L HDi turbo diesel engine, with a fuel economy rating of just 6.4L per 100km. Thanks to the turbo power at hand, the Boxer offers up to 120kW of power, as well as 310Nm of torque, or 350Nm maximum output at 1750rpm. In conjunction with a six-speed manual transmission, the Boxer's gear-set has been optimised to make the most of the Boxer’s power output across Australian roads.
Having been on the scene for a while now, the Peugeot Boxer has notched up a relatively good track record in terms of reliability and durability. Most users find this van is more than cut out for the tasks they throw at it on a day-to-day basis, and there have been no particular major faults reported thus far. The engine in the Boxer is a highly-regarded and robust unit, while the tech and safety offering have proven dependable. Build quality is also very high across the board.
This unit has been produced in a couple of different locations, including the Sevel Sud factory in Italy, but more commonly in the auto-maker's home country of France. From there, Boxers have been imported into Australia since the model was launched locally in 2019. However, the latest-generation of the Peugeot Boxer is being built at Opel's Gliwice factory in Poland from 2022, although that is predominantly for the left-hand drive markets.
The 2020 Peugeot Boxer 160 slots into the large van segment above the Peugeot Expert medium van and Peugeot Partner compact van. Front-drive only, it is priced from $47,490 plus on-road costs Built in the Sevel Sud factory in Italy and launched in Australia in 2019, the Peugeot Boxer 160 simplifies the buying process. There's just the one roof height (2522m...
View ReviewPeugeot Australia offers variants across the small, medium and large commercial van segments. Its largest model, the manual-only Boxer 160 which in 2020 features improved safety and warranty, competes in the LD (light duty) 3501-8000kg GVM class. We recently put it to the test during a busy working week, to find out if it can land a few punches on its oppone...
View ReviewJoint ventures and rebadged products are fairly common in the commercial vehicle sector, so if you think the Peugeot Boxer van looks familiar, you’d be dead right. This is Peugeot’s version of the Fiat Ducato. The Boxer isn’t a completely carbon-copied Fiat product, though. Under the stubby bonnet beats a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine producing...
