Peugeot 2008
Peugeot’s longest serving SUV, and also its smallest, is the 2008. It has existed before the days where everyone was itching to buy a sports utility vehicle, so that should tell you something about how well regarded it is to still be here today. It sits about middle of the field in terms of pricing, which is still well on the scale of affordability. Thanks to the optimised frame of the snazzy exterior, there is a promising amount of space in the boot, loads of natural lighting and visibility, plus rear doors that provide unimpeded access for easier entry and exit. Drawing inspiration from the 208 hatch, this lightweight unit is fairly nimble for its size and handles brightly. At first glance some may baulk at the sound of a 3-cylinder 1.2L turbo engine that only puts out 82kW, but it integrates well with the chassis to deliver pluck and willpower. The six-speed transmission is borrowed from Toyota, adding another element of quality to the fold amidst European style and elegance. The Peugeot 2008 has seen off plenty of challengers in its time, don’t you think it’s time you met it face to face?

It's always better late than never. Peugeot has always marched to the beat of its own drum, and making an SUV was a tune that it took a while to learn. Its first in-house crack at something resembling an SUV was the first-generation Peugeot 2008. However, its wagon-esque styling, complete with hunchback roof line, meant it never struck a chord with Aussie SU...

Peugeot is trying to mark itself out as a premium offering, with no bait-and-switch entry-level machines displaying startling prices. The 2008 Allure costs about the same as the top-spec Renault Captur, which is loaded up with gear. It's also gunning at mid-spec Korean, Japanese and German compact crossovers. For $34,990, you get 17-inch alloys, a six-speake...

We love the styling of the new 2021 Peugeot 2008, an aggressive and stylish take on the small-SUV segment. The 2008 (pronounced two-thousand-and-eight and never two-double-oh-eight – quelle horreur) slots in nicely into the French brand’s SUV line-up that also includes the slightly larger 3008 and the seven-seat 5008. And proving just how important SUVs are...

It’s hard to believe Peugeot has been manufacturing pepper grinders, bicycles, motorbikes, scooters, cars, trucks, and race cars for more than 210 years and is still going strong with attention-grabbing designs like the all-new 2008. We got a hint of the company’s new design language back in 2017 in France, driving the freshly-faced 3008 and 5008 SUVs over s...

This is the second-generation Peugeot 2008 crossover that, like its predecessor, brings some French flair to the sub-compact crossover segment – but with considerably more panache this time around. It’s available in two spec levels in Australia; the Allure, which retails for $34,990 before on-roads and this GT Sport priced at $43,990 – our test car came with...
