Each of these small cars offer a wealth of features, impeccable reliability, as well as an encouraging level of bang for your buck.
Yes, the Pulsar was discontinued some years ago after the last batch of vehicles were produced in 2016. The small car fell out of favour as sales waned in light of a transition to utes and SUVs. Joining a number of other hatchbacks and small sedans no longer sold in Australia, the decision was justified by Nissan as something that was necessary to ensure the auto-maker's long-term prospects, not to mention those of its dealers, were in good stead by focusing on higher-volume sellers.
Before it was phased out, the Pulsar came with a choice of two four-cylinder engines. This included a 1.6-litre turbo motor, as well as a 1.8-litre multi-point engine. The former was capable of delivering 140kW of power at 5600rpm, as well as 240Nm of torque at 2000rpm. On the contrary, the multi-point engine had a more modest power output of 96kW at 6000rpm, in conjunction with 174Nm of torque at 4800 rpm.
Nissan made the dubious move of dropping the well-known Pulsar in 2006 in favour of the Tiida - a name unfamiliar to Australians.
