Nissan Leaf
Electric vehicles are yet to go mainstream, but the Nissan Leaf is striving to change the state of the market. It’s a car that has first mover advantage compared with some of the other pure electric models that are in a far-away price category. Unlike most electric models on the market, or currently in design, the Leaf sports a conservative design that won’t polarise buyers (or families) at the onset. The last version of the electric hatch was overlooked by many because of its limited driving range, however Nissan has now bumped this up to 270km. It’s a noticeable improvement, supporting the practicality of the car, which can be left to recharge overnight. The 2019 version of the Leaf also feels built to a higher standard, its added bulk making it feel rather sturdy, yet the 110kW and 320Nm on offer make for a smooth, zippy unit. One of the more novel inclusions is e-Pedal technology, allowing motorists to benefit from energy recuperation that occurs when you let off the accelerator and the car automatically begins to decelerate. Solid feedback is felt while steering and handling, while the cabin feels airy and boasts enough equipment, safety aids and clean lines to suggest the car fits in nicely at this price-point. Are you ready to be a part of the electric revolution?

Nissan wants Aussies to love the LEAF… or at the very least be fond enough of it to take one home. Until late in 2020 the world’s best-selling EV, the Nissan LEAF has been on sale across two closely-related generations since 2010. Yet in Australia, where it first went on sale just two years later (2012), it has struggled to achieve more than novelty status....

New tech is always going to cost a premium, just look at how the latest flagship smartphones have crept well over $1000! So, if you’re expecting to pay a little more for an electric car than a petrol or diesel-powered model, you’d be right on the money. You can get into a base Nissan Leaf for $49,990 before on-road costs, but the new 2021 e+ raises the bar t...

The Nissan Leaf doesn’t get the respect it almost certainly deserves as one of the pioneers in the then-fledgling electric vehicle segment which it made its international debut in 2010. Consider the fact that the Leaf is into its second generation, for instance, while other manufacturers still work to get their first-generation electric vehicles to market. W...

The Nissan Leaf is the original mainstream electric vehicle, launched in its first generation at the very end of 2010. Nissan has sold more than 500,000 units globally over its decade-long lifecycle. Now in its second generation, the Japanese branded but UK-built (for Australia) EV is offering more choice for 2021, with the addition of a longer range variant...
