The Nissan Dualis was the predecessor for today's popular SUV in the Qashqai, setting the way for its success. Arriving back in 2008, the mid-size Dualis paid homage to the crossover concept, arguably well before it was even discovered, taking its name as a representation of its position between a hatchback and SUV. Before the Qashqai arrived in Australia and replaced the Dualis, it was sold in Europe under the same name.
Not exactly. The original Dualis, as it was known in the Australian new car market, was phased out in 2014 as the Nissan Qashqai replaced it. However, the Qashqai was effectively the same vehicle as the Dualis when it was sold under that name in Europe years before it made its way down under. Building on that, the Qashqai is still available for sale to this day, making it a long-standing name in the Nissan range, even if it has seen a number of iterations over the years.
With seating for up to seven, the Dualis lived up to the bill as a car fit to carry the whole family. It was also sold with seating for five, which means you had options to choose from, depending on whether you valued extra boot space and comfort for second-row passengers, or the practicality of having third-row seats. In a shift from its predecessor, the Qashqai, only has occupancy for five, with no seven-seat option as was the case with the Dualis.
