For a vehicle of this size and stature, it takes a lot of power to get things going. Fortunately, the S580L is equipped with a monstrous 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. It distributes as much as 370kW of power and 700Nm of torque to all four wheels via a slick nine-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. In addition, a 48-volt mild-hybrid system provides the impetus for another 15kW of power and 200Nm of torque to really provide assistance when it's needed most under heavy load.
