It’s a combination that works well in unison, offering an exuberant aura and having strong presence on the roads. It is also one frugal hatch, with fuel consumption a miserly 5.4L per 100km, putting it on par with some hybrid vehicles being sold today. Being well-specced in terms of performance is one thing, but the B200 also crows loads of kit, additional cabin room and extra boot space over its A-Class sibling to attract value-conscious buyers. Many will appreciate the supreme comfort on offer, with a swank interior enveloping and supporting occupants, and a softer suspension setup proving invaluable. Leading the safety suite is a comprehensive offering of nine airbags, although it’s so easy to overlook the active safety technology such is its understated brilliance. It’s not quite a hatch, nor an SUV, but for the best of both worlds, the B200 will be a source of joy for years to come.
