Melding the best elements of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class into an SUV might seem like an improbable cause, but the GLS achieves this feat effortlessly with flawless execution. Proving that size is no barrier, this huge SUV packs in every bit of opulence to rival niche prestige brands. All three rows of seating have significant space and amenity, without compromising on the cargo hold at the back either. While the conventional GLS models offer abundant power, the AMG GLS 63 takes this one step further. Never mind a six-cylinder engine, here it is a bi-turbo V8 offering 430kW and 760Nm. Power output right throughout the series was already brutal, with immediate and decisive thrust, but here it is from another planet. Complementing this is outstanding ride comfort, which can only be attributed to the air suspension and spring configuration that offers variable adjustment to cater to whatever conditions you’re tackling.
