• What does GLC stand for in Mercedes?

  As part of a tribute to the G-Class, each of the Mercedes-AMG SUVs feature the first two letters "GL" in their name. The "G" at the beginning of the name stands for ‘geländewagen’, which is German for off-road vehicle. The “L” is a linking letter that doesn't specifically have a meaning, but makes it easier to remember and pronounce the model, as was the case with the SL and others. The "C" represents the Class, or range, and in this case it is the C-Class. As such, the GLC is considered the GL C-Class, previously known as the GLK.
