As has often been one of the criticisms levelled at the Maserati brand, the reliability of the Ghibli has been patchy over the years. First launched back in 2013, the model has drawn mixed reviews from owners since that time. On the one hand, many owners have had no real problems except the occasional gremlin that would be normal in all cars. On the other hand, some owners have had a torrid time with the Ghibli and faced consistent issues. Reliability has improved over time, but there are alternatives out there with a higher reputation at this price-point.
When it comes to Maserati cars, they tend to depreciate faster than most, if not all other luxury sports cars. This often makes them appealing in the second-hand market, where you can potentially score a rather large discount just a few years after a model is released. More broadly, some of the factors that drive the brand's above-average depreciation include: perceptions around patchy reliability, expensive repair and maintenance costs, high insurance costs, and a limited dealer network.
According to Maserati, the Ghibli, as well as the Quattroporte, are considered “the fastest production on-road Maserati sedans ever”. The Ghibli can reach a top speed of 326km/h, and in terms of its acceleration, it can launch from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds. That is thanks to a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine produced by Ferrari that offers 580 brake horsepower and peak torque of 730 Nm.
Alfa Romeo has been hard at work refining the Giulia. The engineers in Turin have updated the infotainment, interior trim, and driver assists to make its beautiful sports sedan a better rival for its German foes – and they’ve done a pretty good job of it. But the more mundane, mainstream Giulia isn’t what the red-blooded Alfisti want to know about. They want...
