We'd have no quarrels recommending the GS450h, which in our opinion, is a fine car to call your own. Like almost all of Lexus' other models, the GS450h is dependable, luxurious, comfortable, and also brimming with features. It's enough to put this unit in the category of exceptional value, and that's before you consider the strong performance traits on offer. We wish more cars were built like this, and it is a shame the GS450h is no longer sold in Australia, because it really does deserve a special mention as a standout premium, large-size sedan.
Lexus discontinued its rival to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series amid lacklustre sales over recent years. The series was well and truly a low volume range, and unlike the mid-size ES sedan range, which has seen sales boom in comparison, there wasn't a future for the GS line-up down under. Between the ES and the IS, these two models turned into replacements for the larger GS, even though they compete in very different sections of the market.
The GS tag is one that Lexus embraced for its series of upmarket sedans, including top-tier performers like the GS-F, as well as other high-spec models as well. As for what it means, the GS badge stands for “Grand Sedan”. This series is not quite as big as the full-size LS series - which stands for Luxury Sedan - but you will still be left impressed by the sheer amount of space inside the cabin of the Grand Sedan series.
