Infiniti QX80
Taking centre stage at the top of the Infiniti line-up is the QX80, a bulky seven-seat SUV that epitomises high-end refinement and rigorous power. Serving up a design quite distinctive from its peers, it’s a car that looks equipped to venture off-road. You’ll be delighted to know that this is followed through in its build, with the incorporation of a low-range transfer case, locking rear differential, 22 inch wheels plus various off-road dynamic driving modes. Infiniti has maintained its rugged 5.6L V8 and seven-speed gearbox combination from past models, instead tweaking aspects like the suspension and steering for a fluid ride. Meanwhile, the cabin of the QX80 is plush, airy and feels crisp. There’s loads of room, a high level of amenity and the latest safety technology is prominent. While neither of Infiniti’s other SUV models are particularly known for their towing capacity, it’s a different story here with as much as 3500kg braked towing capacity. Likewise, the QX80 is differentiated from its siblings through its ability to go deep into rocky and shifting terrain, yet it doesn’t lose any of its sharp acceleration on bitumen either. Nissan’s Patrol may be the foundation for the QX80, but the latter adds a premium touch that you’ll be every bit pleased to own.

But the more mundane, mainstream Giulia isn’t what the red-blooded Alfisti want to know about. They want...
