Infiniti Q30
If it’s the first time you’re hearing about the Infiniti brand, then you’re not alone given its understated reputation. However, as the premium spin-off label for Nissan, there is indisputable quality behind the name. The Q30 is the baby of the series, an entry-level FWD crossover that is headlined by a generous list of standard features, the most prominent of which are active safety aids. Design-wise, the car is a beauty, with a fine blend of elegance and originality its sweeping curves and recessed details draw the eye. Internally, the cabin sports a minimalist look, albeit the premium feel is retained through the textures and materials throughout, even if the controls and technology are somewhat conservative. Although it may look like a hatch, the Q30 leverages its high-riding frame to provide extra clearance for dealing with pesky speed bumps. Thankfully there is more boot space here than the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class, albeit some rear seat space is occupied as a result, making this a vehicle better suited to two adults in the front and kids in the back. Rounded out with a responsive engine and swift-shifting transmission, the Infiniti Q30 has all the nuts and bolts to equal its better-known rivals.

Compact crossovers are selling like hotcakes at the moment, in both the mainstream and premium markets. Keen to cash in, the folks at Infiniti hatched (heh) a plan. Rather than spending big bucks developing its own platform, it turned to Mercedes-Benz and set about rebadging the GLA-Class to create the Q30 and QX30. The result is a car with a number of simil...

Infiniti Q30 1.6t GT Road Test This deceptively large hatch from Nissan’s prestige arm has all the hallmarks of a luxury car, but without the luxury brand to back it up. On the plus side, its elegant design is more attractive than the Mercedes-Benz it borrows much of its interior from and it’s a dream to drive – smooth, quiet and comfortable on the road. But...

Welcome to the future - where your Mercedes-Benz is a Nissan and your Nissan is a Mercedes-Benz.  Lost already? Let me catch you up. Infiniti is the premium arm of Nissan, in much the same way Lexus is the premium arm of Toyota, and the Q30 is Infiniti’s hatchback.  Thanks to the state of various global manufacturing alliances the Q30 is mechanically, largel...

You may think the ‘crossover’ is a relatively new segment in the automobile world. Well, it’s actually not. One of the very first examples was a 1948 Willys-Overland Jeepster, which still looks freakin' amazing. While back then, a crossover was something outrageous, it’s a segment today that is quite normal and fills the void for those wanting a hatchback, b...

So apparently the car you’re seeing in the pics here is actually an SUV, and not a hatchback. Confused? Us too, a little bit. Infiniti – the luxury arm of Nissan that’s been around for about 20 years – insists, though, that the Q30 is a small SUV. There is a bit of justification for the claim. The Q30 is a product of a collab between Mercedes-Benz and Nissan...
