Honda City
What do you get when you take the proven winning formula of a small hatch in the Honda Jazz, and extend its wheelbase to create a roomy sedan? The Honda City, of course. But more space and legroom means a higher price, right? Well, not necessarily. In fact, the VTi and VTi-L are both priced at comparable price-points, and the premium variant can even be had for cheaper than its equivalent baby brother. Upgrading to the VTi-L brings with it a host of perks like sat-nav, alloy wheels, front fog lights and leather trim, but the real value rests in the base variant and its tempting price. Sharing an identical 1.5L engine and your choice between CVT auto or five-speed manual transmission, the City has a surprising level of dash but won’t chew through your petrol. The longer wheelbase helps add some finesse and comfort in tackling suburban back roads, all the while maintaining deft silence. Like the Jazz, boot space punches above its weight, and then some, so the City holds its head high as far as practicality. One reason you may want to opt for this model over the Honda Jazz is the greater sensation of balance while behind the wheel, which makes for a more pleasant drive all-round.
