In fact, it is easy to describe this as an excellent car offering exceptional value for money, which is only likely to be the case for discounted second-hand models as well. Backed by the reliability of the Honda badge, the City is an effortless and comfortable car to drive, perfect for inner-city commuting.
Yes, as part of its move towards a fixed-price agency model, Honda has made some changes to its range of cars, including the discontinuation of the Honda City. The sixth-generation version of the popular hatch and sedan, which launched in 2014, represents the last production run that Australian new car buyers had access to. Honda announced this decision in 2019, despite the fact that the City remains in production overseas for other markets.
In making this decision a little easier, Honda Civic is the only one of the two that is sold new in Australia following the discontinuation of the Honda City. However, do note that the Civic is only available in hatch format, with the sedan format phased out by the auto-maker in the local car market. If you are comparing the two, the Civic comes out with a little more grunt and polish, but if you can score a relatively-recent City second-hand for a bargain, it may well be worth a look-in. Keep in mind though, buying new always gives you warranty, as well as the latest safety aids and technology.
