One of the more confusing naming topics from the Holden range, General Motors Australia marketed the second-generation Insignia as the Holden Commodore ZB through until 2020, at which point the Holden brand was retired, as was the model line. This was the first Commodore manufactured outside of Australia and imported into the country. Holden previously sold the first-generation Insignia under the Holden brand and a separate model line from 2015 to 2017.
When it was offered in the Australian new car market, the Insignia was classified as a large family car. It boasted all-wheel-drive functionality, and new car buyers had the choice of a 2.8-litre turbo when it was last sold in 2016/17 before being retired by Holden. With seating for five occupants, the length of the Insignia was approximately 4,830mm, while it had a height of 1,498mm. In terms of its wheelbase, the Insignia measured 2,737mm.
The top-spec engine in the Holden Insignia was a six-cylinder 2.8-litre turbo petrol. It had a power output of 239kW and 435Nm, which is a significant dose of power that most sedans can't get anywhere near touching. In an earlier time, the Insignia was offered with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor, and rather than AWD, it featured front-wheel-drive. That particular model was equipped with a more modest 162kW of power and 350Nm of torque.
