The Holden Colorado certainly compared favourably with many of the popular utes in one of the hottest segments of the market, although as you will no doubt be aware, Holden has bid farewell to Australia. You'll have to eye a second-hand edition of the Colorado if that's what you're after, but you should still know this is one mighty and dependable car fit for a day at work or a weekend with the family. Best of all, you might well be able to score a bargain compared with prices for a brand new HiLux and Ranger.
Holden was producing the Colorado utility vehicle via a licensing partnership with Isuzu until the brand decided to cease production of the vehicle amid its exit from the local market. Before Holden called time on the Colorado, this workmanlike ute, only in its second generation, was manufactured in Thailand due to the fact that it was sharing a common platform with the Isuzu D-Max.
The Holden Colorado is no longer in production and the assembly plant that it was manufactured has already been sold to Great Wall Motors, who will build their own contender to challenge the HiLux. If you've already bought a Holden Colorado, however, you will still have access to parts and servicing through the company's after-sales network for at least 10 years. Furthermore, should there be any recalls or safety bulletins affecting the car, this after-sales network will also manage affairs on behalf of Holden. Naturally, your warranty coverage will still be honoured.

Unfortunately, the legendary and ubiquitous Aussie V8 ute has been assigned to the history books for some time now. Those wanting one will be trawling through second-handers instead of showroom floors, as the market has pivoted towards the 4x4 ute. The problem is that most of the popular utes these days are diesel-powered, and don’t really have any on-road p...
View ReviewDespite being one of the oldest utes in the category, it isn’t as if Holden dropped the Colorado onto the market back in 2012 and left it untouched. A thorough refresh for MY17 brought a new front-end de-sign, better infotainment and safety equipment, and significant enhancements under the skin including a locally developed chassis tune, electric power steer...
View ReviewThe Z71 auto 4x4 dual-cab has a list price of $57,490 MSRP. Our test vehicle is $59,260 MSRP because, over and above its comprehensive list of Z71 features (and those from cheaper variants), it has an electric brake controller ($740), and a towing package ($1030). The Z71-specific features include a heap of style-based stuff, such as black fender flares, new...

View ReviewThe much-improved Holden Colorado is a well equipped ute with an excellent diesel engine and the option of dual-range four-wheel drive. It carries and tows big loads well, and for a ute it is now quiet to ride in and it steers nicely. Inside, all Colorados have excellent smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The demise of Holden means you...
