As the Holden Caprice is no longer being manufactured, the only models you will find available for sale are second-hand units from earlier years. And given the Caprice was retired at the end of the 2017 model year, this is one car that is already ageing quite quickly. With that in mind, you will still see a fair number of Caprice variants in the used car market, but make sure you do your research on an appropriate price to pay, and in coming to this conclusion, look carefully at the car's condition, mileage and maintenance history.

The Caprice often boasted a V8 powered engine, rather than just a V6, and the equipment list was generally more comprehensive in terms of inclusions, features and finishes.

In fact, I remember one time when my best friend’s dad brought home a VSII Caprice with a 5.0-litre V8 — I'd assumed they had hit the jackpot. Leap forward to today and the Statesman name has been axed and the LPG V6 dropped in favour of a single spec...
