• How many cylinders does a Barina Spark have?

  The Barina Spark was powered by a four-cylinder, 1.2-litre petrol engine. In manual, with a five-speed gearbox, it offered 59kW of power and 107Nm of torque, while the four-speed automatic gearbox increased those numbers fractionally to 63kW of power and 113Nm of torque. As you may have gathered, these figures aren't going to tear up rubber on the track, but the Barina Spark was always marketed as a practical and affordable entry-level model, and that still largely rings true.

• What is a Holden Barina Spark?

  The Barina Spark was a small hatchback produced by Holden, offering a frugal level of fuel efficiency, but a practical and convenient option for inner-city commuting. Its pint-sized status means it was up against hatches, micro cars and city cars when battling for attention among new car buyers. Although it is no longer in production, you may still find quite a few of these units on the road to this day as they have proven reliable and affordable to service and maintain.

• Who makes the Barina Spark?

  Holden produced the Barina Spark for the Australian new car market up until the 2016 model year, after which it was replaced by the Spark. Of course, that model didn't last all that long either because Holden pulled up stumps shortly after.
