Options for the Ford Territory included both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants, meaning there was wide flexibility in the range for local car buyers. At the time, buying interest typically skewed towards the RWD versions of the Territory, with practicality favoured over off-road versatility. Nonetheless, with the Territory no longer sold locally, the Ford Escape and Ford Everest both cover off on all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive functionality.
After a near two-year wait, Ford introduced the Endura as a replacement for the much-loved Territory. Sadly, however, the Endura was not all that well received by the Australian new car market and has since been phased out in 2020, lasting just two years. Its replacements are the Ford Escape and Ford Everest, with an expanded range for both vehicles filling the gap left in the company's line-up.
Once the showpiece of the Ford line-up when it was earmarked as the replacement for the Falcon, albeit in high-riding, seven-seat form, this SUV fell by the wayside when Ford was forced to cease local auto manufacturing in Australia. The economics of producing down under no longer stacked up for the company, so when the Endura was flagged as an import replacement, it became a logical choice for the company, but one that didn't resonate with new car buyers.

View ReviewWell, today is the day. Twelve years, five months and fourteen days since the first 'production' Ford Territory rolled off the line in Campbellfield, Victoria. Today, the story of Australia’s first SUV comes to an end. There will be plenty of opinion pieces written about what might have been, if Ford Australia had been able to get Dearborn to sit up and take...
View ReviewAlfa Romeo has been hard at work refining the Giulia. The engineers in Turin have updated the infotainment, interior trim, and driver assists to make its beautiful sports sedan a better rival for its German foes – and they’ve done a pretty good job of it. But the more mundane, mainstream Giulia isn’t what the red-blooded Alfisti want to know about. They want...
