Find out the Fiat 500X 2018 price today!
Sadly, 2021 marked the end of the line for the Fiat 500X, which was discontinued in Australia. The move came as the auto-maker made the decision to streamline its Australian range to just two models, the Ducato van, and the 500 city car. That means the 500X crossover was one of two victims, joining the Doblo van in being phased out. Given the stiff competition in the SUV-crossover market, the Fiat 500X has struggled to make inroads down under with local new car buyers.
Unfortunately, the Fiat 500X is not a four-wheel drive. During 2018, when the auto-maker made a thorough revision to the line-up, it phased out the 4x4 version and also did away with diesel variants. That means the current line-up of vehicles in the Fiat 500X range are front-wheel drive only, and all are powered by a turbo-petrol motor. If 4x4 functionality is one of the most important features you seek in a compact SUV-crossover, you could turn your attention to the Jeep Compass Trailhawk or the Suzuki Jimny, which are standout names in this corner of the market.
The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) gave the Fiat 500X a five star safety rating, however, do bear in mind this was back in 2016 following the release of the model. Nonetheless, the safety inclusions in this crossover are numerous, with standard features like seven airbags, electronic stability control, reversing camera and rear parking sensors. The Pop Star variant comes with AEB - here, dubbed Forward Collision Warning Plus- as well as auto headlights, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear-cross traffic alerts.
Compact SUV buyers are probably the most spoilt for choice. We've got products from South Korea, Japan, the USA, Germany, Britain, China (yep, MG is Chinese now), France and Italy. Yet Fiat's 500X isn't generally on the shopping list, partly because if you see one, you're probably in denial that it isn't the tiny Cinquecento. Obviously it isn't. Longer, wide...
View ReviewWith an ever-increasing list of options within the 2WD small-SUV set, the Fiat 500X Pop Star isn’t necessarily the first choice that springs to mind in the face of competition from all corners of the globe. I drove the 500X at its international launch in Italy back in March 2015 – I know, tough gig that one. Not long after, I spent a month behind the wheel o...
View ReviewFiat’s first crossover trades on its strong visual association with the perky 500 compact hatchback, while packaging it up in a higher-riding, bigger-bodied form factor that promises greater versatility and contemporary appeal. Updated earlier this year with the addition of lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, AEB and adaptive cruise control – plus...
