PMC Says...

Following changes to the MY20 edition, where the Ferrari 488 was cut to just two variants, the Pista and the Spider, this popular model returns in 2021 with what is largely a consistent showing as the year prior. But don’t take that as a bad thing, because the 488 was already faring delightfully well, and all the power and precision of a legendary name like this is honoured as it deserves to be. For a two-seat, two-door sports car, the interior is quite large, offering great room, and helping envelop occupants in a serene atmosphere despite the frenzy going on around you. One of the shortfalls of this unit is that it doesn’t quite boast the practicality as you would find in other Ferrari names, so boot space is limited, and advanced safety aids aren’t as comprehensive as they perhaps should be. But the 488 is focused on driving entertainment. Thanks to a ripsnorting twin-turbo 3.9-litre engine, the 488 is packed with great pound-for-pound power, with a gearbox that doesn’t miss a beat. This thing is frighteningly quick, and it has no problems responding to every bit of input. Rounded out with great braking power, light steering, and superb road-handling attributes, this is a car not to miss.

But the more mundane, mainstream Giulia isn’t what the red-blooded Alfisti want to know about. They want...
