First introduced back in 2019, this family-friendly mid-size SUV greeted Australian new car buyers with Citroen’s uniquely charismatic looks. It’s something that has drawn in a number of buyers in its own right, but look beyond the surface of the MY21 C5 Aircross and you’ll find a glorious and compelling package. There are just the two variants on offer locally, including the entry-level Feel, and the top-spec Shine, albeit both run the same 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine that puts out 121kW of power and 240Nm of torque. Standard features run deep thanks to the likes of sat-nav, digital radio, parking sensors, keyless operation, dual-zone climate control, 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen system with smartphone connectivity, AEB, lane-keep assist and blind-spot monitoring. The upgrades in the Shine are more tailored towards comfort and amenity inside the cabin thanks to advanced comfort seats, as well as softer touches around the interior owing to leather and fabric upholstery. Regardless of which spec you choose, the C5 Aircross is very roomy and practical, with superb visibility. If there is one area where the C5 Aircross really stands tall, however, it is ride quality, with this SUV both graceful and poised.
