As a premium brand, Audi has forged a reputation for developing some impressive cars, with reliability proving to be a highlight. The SQ5 Plus is no exception, and with no major issues being tied to this model, plus a solid platform that has served several generations of Audi's luxury cars, the points certainly stack up in its favour. Do keep in mind, however, every car will require repairs at some point, and most manufacturers are subject to recalls at various stages, which only serve to build upon the reliability of future releases.
Although there are a number of smaller differences as far as cosmetics and amenity, not to mention the higher price of the SQ5 Plus, the biggest differentiation between these two popular high-end units is performance capabilities. Whereas the Q5 relies on a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo hybrid or diesel, the SQ5 employs a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 in diesel mode. The top-spec Q5 offers up to 210kW, while the SQ5 can produce as much as 250kW of power. Ride dynamics in the SQ5 Plus are also more sporty and lively, including the suspension.
Audi claims the limited top speed of the SQ5 Plus is approximately 250km/h. Meanwhile, it also puts the 0-100km/h time at around 4.6 seconds, which is incredibly quick for a car of this size. As this car is no longer in production, if you want something new you'll have to consider the latest SQ5, or alternatively, you could always take a look at the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43, BMW X3 M40i or the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Each has their own benefits, but they are all lightning quick units that appeal to performance enthusiasts.
The new Audi SQ5 is slower, thirstier and costlier than before, yet it's better.
