Find out the Audi RS4 2018 price today!
Although it is a fantastic car, and certainly one with all the hallmarks of a high performance estate, the RS4 falls a touch short of being a supercar in itself. Sure, some of the performance traits are straight out of the supercar handbook, but the overall package is more akin to a top-tier sports car. Let's not forget either, this unit is a high-performance adaptation of the Audi A4 range, and it is another step above the inspirational S4 as the most sports-oriented car within the A4 class. If you want an Audi supercar, however, the R8 is your pick.
A punchy and dynamic unit, the Audi RS4 is equipped with a 2.9-litre V6 TFSI bi-turbo engine that offers up to 331kW of power and a maximum torque of 600Nm. It is an engine that has been co-developed with Porsche, so you can be sure that it is of the highest calibre. Elsewhere, the RS4 features a splendid combination of Quattro all-wheel drive, sport differential, as well as optional extras like dynamic steering and RS sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC).
Although it might be smaller and lighter, the RS4 is no match for the RS6 when you pit the two head-to-head on a racetrack. With that said, the RS4 does a phenomenal job in keeping the gap so close, offering a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.1 seconds, only a few tenths of a second behind the RS6. That is despite having 100kW less power and 200Nm less torque at hand. The V8 in the RS6 gets the wood on the RS4, while it also handles with more poise and surety. With that said, the RS4 is a mile cheaper, so it arguably offers a better value proposition, minus a few of the bells and whistles.
It's lost two cylinders and that soundtrack of angels fighting to the death, but the new Audi RS4 Avant has gained so much more.
View ReviewFaster than its R8-powered predecessor, the fourth-generation, twin-turbo V6 Audi RS 4 Avant harnesses all that is right in its RS 5 Coupe sibling, and packages it into a family-friendly five-door wagon body. Priced from $152,900 (plus on-road costs) the wagon-only RS 4 competes with the sedan-only BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMGs multi-variant C 63 line-up, and boa...
View ReviewThink about the word ‘functional'. You might notice that there are three letters at the start of the word that people don't often associate with station wagons. That's not the case for the 2018 Audi RS 4. This isn't your everyday station wagon. It's a hyperbole-generating monster - a family-friendly estate with a licence to punish. Audi goes as far as to sug...
View ReviewMay, 2018: Go on. Thump your chest. Cry a little. Write a eulogy for the death of the 4.2-litre V8 that once hulked under the bonnet of the Audi RS4. Get it out of your system, have a cup of tea and a lie down. And then, when you’ve driven the all-new 2018 Audi RS4 Avant, start celebrating. Because, despite the loss of two cylinders and 1.3 litres of displac...
View ReviewRushing in peak-hour traffic is futile – especially when time is of the essence. My body’s natural coping mechanisms aren’t helping allay an anxious mind. My eyes glance at the clock repeatedly as if to somehow, by magic, make the digits regress and my thumbs tap the steering wheel in a rhythm akin to a sporadic nervous twitch. It’s a manic dance performed d...
