Find out the Audi R8 2020 price today!
The Audi R8 is an ultra upmarket car that as you might expect, carries a significant price-tag with it. The opening price across the R8 range is just shy of $300,000, courtesy of the Coupe option. Almost in another league, however, is the Spyder Performance Quattro, which has a Suggested Retail Price of $416,500. Both units are powered by a V10, with on-road costs such as stamp duty, dealer delivery and luxury car tax excluded from these prices.
While the term supercar might be used somewhat loosely in this day and age, the Audi R8 is a throwback to one of the original supercars. A rarity among a dying breed, what with a growing number of auto-makers now relying upon turbochargers instead of naturally-aspirated engines. Powered by a thunderous V10 engine, the R8 is lightning quick, yet it is still rather effortless to drive. Put this head to head against just about any other production car on the market and let the results speak for themselves.
Sadly, curtains have been drawn on the Audi R8 supercar, with the German auto manufacturer announcing that it would no longer be produced for the Australian new car market. The company's hands were tied given its engine plant in Hungary no longer produces the V10 engine used in the cars sold across Australia. Instead, it will prioritise engine production for Audi R8s sold across Europe, which means it is a sad end for the R8 in Australia, but business as usual in overseas markets.
Is the 2020 Audi R8 the most accessible supercar? If it’s not, it must be damn close. Perhaps only the Porsche 911 Turbo or Turbo S (which was the previous standard-setter for usability) still pips it at the line. Whichever you prefer though, there’s no doubt the Audi R8 is a mighty supercar that is staggeringly fast, but one you can also live with day-to-da...
View ReviewThe more things change, the more they stay the same. Take the facelifted 2020 Audi R8: there’s a lower entry price, new technology and added appeal, yet the rationale for purchasing Audi’s mid-engine supercar over rivals is the same as it was back in 2009 – a glorious 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine. Thing is, however, with impending emissions regul...
View ReviewSupercars can sometimes be seen as the divas of the auto world – delicate, over-the-top, not very good with reality. Well that may be the case for some supercars but not Audi's R8. It's affordable by supercar standards, easy to drive and still very, very fast. Now the updated R8 has arrived, looking fiercer than ever, but remaining one of the smartest superc...
View ReviewI’ve got to go back more than 11 years for my first taste of an Audi R8. We picked it up in the small Bavarian town of Kempten at the headquarters of ABT Sportsline, a long-standing tuner that once prepared Audi GT racing cars. As you might imagine, it was no ordinary Audi R8 V8. It was Christian Abt’s daily driver, one that’d been amped up using two super...
View ReviewCan the Audi R8 already be high-school age? Yep, born in 2007 as a V8, the R8 is now deep into its second – and last – model cycle (at least in its current form); hence this relatively mild yet effective makeover which has just arrived to blitz Aussie roads. The top-tree V10 Performance now costs $395,000 with, Audi claims, an extra $10,000 in bits over the...
