Weekly Dealer Car Enquiries – Sunday October 11

In this series, which we hope to bring to you on a regular basis, we’ll be detailing some of the key numbers and trends that we’re seeing in terms of dealer connections made through our site.

As this data is considered somewhat representative of broader industry activity, and serves as one of the more insightful leading indicators for potential car sales, we hope it will fulfil a few purposes for our broad audience. First, to document not just how we’re performing as business, but how dealers and the wider market stand to perform, so you don’t have to wait til that next set of official sales data.

Without further ado, here’s what happened over the last week.

Total new car enquiries

In the week ending Sunday, October 11, we saw 1,100 inbound enquiries relating to new cars through the PriceMyCar website. Compared with 1,037 the week prior, this represented an increase of 6.1%. The result further entrenches the upward momentum that has been in place over recent weeks, much like the progress made in suppressing COVID in various hotspots across the country.

Helping the cause, for the fifth time in a row consumer confidence was on the rise. Adding to the positive sentiment, the Federal Budget has signalled tax breaks for a significant proportion of Australians across the country, as well as incentives for business owners that could drive to heightened interest in new cars.

New car interest by brand

Once again, there was one brand that was capturing a record level of interest, and it was likely sparked by the proposed tax breaks afforded to businesses in the Federal Budget. The number of dealer connections for Isuzu vehicles jumped by 34 to a record total of 111 across the week, signifying week-on-week growth of 44.2%.

Fast becoming a tradie favourite, the brand was only marginally behind Kia, which posted a small increase in leads to become the leading brand in terms of new car queries.

Both brands overtook Mazda, which fell from its position atop the charts into third place.
